Vehicles in German Town Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers stated they were alerted by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials say preliminary tests indicate the liquid was most likely human blood.

"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are currently not informed of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for tips.

A senior political figure stated the vandalism rendered him stunned and had to be addressed quickly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in 2020.
